Sustainability is not just a goal for us but the key that unites and guides all our business projects. It is a value that must be tangible and measurable to be spoken of, and in this perspective, in the biennium 2023-2024, we initiated the project to create a state-of-the-art wastewater recycling plant, unique of its kind, within our dyeing facility in Prato.

This innovative system, spread over an area of 358 square meters and completely underground beneath the flooring, consists of 300 tanks. The solution is divided into five sectors of targeted treatment, each dedicated to specific characteristics of wastewater. This plant not only represents a significant technological milestone but is also a concrete example of how the textile industry can operate in harmony with the environment, demonstrating how industrial innovation can go hand in hand with environmental responsibility.

Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA)

As an SFA member, we are committed to promoting the SUSTAINABLE FIBRE ALLIANCE standard, encouraging the adoption of responsible production practices. Our goal is to achieve behavioral change leading to better outcomes for people, animals, and the environment.

Noah’s Ark Project

Arca di Noè is a synthesis of extraordinary things. It is a container of ideas, projects, and products designed and focused on the use of precious semi-finished raw materials divided by colors and fibers, fully traceable, whose natural hues play a crucial role in environmental conservation.
You can choose to be enveloped by the soft warmth of the natural tones of cashmere, camel, and ultra-fine lambswool in a range of beige, light grey, fawn, and brown. We sought them in places where animals live, involving shepherds and breeders to preserve their precious varieties.

The fibers selected for this part of the collection, not undergoing chemical treatments or dyes, allow for significant water and energy savings, no CO2 emissions, and no disposal of polluting products. With our ARCA, we actively contribute to the preservation and promotion of extraordinary artisanal processes focused on niche dyeing capabilities, such as botanical and pre-consumer recycling of raw materials. In our company, nothing from the production process is discarded without adhering to the ‘Biagioli quality,’ giving a second life to excellent raw materials.

Thus, there is ample space for natural colors, prints, and vegetable dyes, closed-loop recycled fibers, and sought-after raw materials to make the Biagioli Arca di Noè product even more unique and exquisitely artisanal.

Smart Collection Project

From a physical law to an anti-waste philosophy that turns waste into virtue and regenerates it as a new product.

This is the principle we apply in the recovery of surplus from the processing of our plants for the production of our “Smart” yarn.

A quality recovery, a resource of which we know the origin because our company applies the 4Sustainability Chemical Management Protocol and the Detox Protocol for the respect of human health and the environment.

The “Smart” yarn is generated within a circular and sustainable production cycle that ensures responsible use of our processing surplus, for reduced consumption of energy and water, CO2 emissions, and disposal of processing surplus by 95% less.

The production of the “Smart” yarn has involved every area of the plant with significant investments in operational structures and staff training.

A new way of thinking about the economy and new virtuous and low-impact yarns, once again our company demonstrates the attitude of looking to the future and changes as an opportunity to offer our customers.

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) requires the release of a third-party-verified environmental statement that attests to the following: the content of natural fibers from organic farming in both intermediate and finished products; the maintenance of traceability throughout the entire production process; restrictions on the use of chemical products; and compliance with environmental and social criteria at all stages of the production chain, from the field collection of natural fibers to subsequent manufacturing stages, up to the labeling of the finished product.

The Global Organic Textile Standard guarantees:

  • Products containing at least 70% organic agricultural fibers.
  • Manufacturing activities, such as dyeing or printing, carried out on behalf of third parties, are provided by operators who have adopted management models and procedures that comply with the required standards.
  • Chemical products used in the textile industry processing comply with the required standards through appropriate assessment, primarily based on the verification of toxicological and ecotoxicological characteristics.

Good Cashmere Standard (GCS)

The Good Cashmere Standard was created to improve the welfare of cashmere goats with respect to the Five Freedoms as well as the economic, social and ecological conditions experienced by cashmere farmers, their families and communities in Inner Mongolia. The standard specifies a clear and comprehensive set of criteria for a sustainable cashmere production. Regular checks are performed by independent auditors in order to monitor compliance with these criteria.

Detox Project

Filati Biagioli Modesto SpA recognizes the importance of eliminating dangerous substances from our production cycle, which is why in February 2016 we signed the Detox commitment, promoted by Greenpeace, with the coordination of Confindustria Toscana Nord.

This new path aims to enrich our constant commitment to respecting the environment and the health of workers and consumers through quality products and processes.

The analyses were carried out on representative samples of our production.

The data was published on the IPE portal.
